Leadership

Faiz Hilaly

Founder, CEO

Faiz is a junior at Menlo School, and the Founder and CEO of Launch Coders. He has an extensive background in computer science, having taken both AP Computer Science Principles and AP Computer Science with Data Structures. He has three years experience teaching 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders computer science in the Ravenswood District; he is also a member of the Palo Alto Youth Council and Young Men’s Service League, where he makes education an emphasis of his commission. In December of 2019, Faiz founded Launch Coders with the mission of bringing opportunity to children with a passion for learning.

Sasha Kaplich

COO

Sasha is a senior at Carlmont High School, and works as a Teacher and Marketing Specialist at Launch Coders. He’s had experience with Java, Python, HTML and Lua, and is currently taking AP Computer Science. On top of tutoring middle school students in Algebra and English, he’s also a member of Carlmont's Robotics team and leads a game studio club. Through joining Launch Coders, Sasha hopes to inspire young students in his community with an interest in coding.

Cody Sugarman

Advisor

Cody studied Computer Science at 
Stanford University with a focus 
in human-computer interaction. He has 
been teaching for over ten years, with 
experience ranging from private programming lessons to leading the largest 
public speaking class (200+ students) at 
Stanford. After two years as a trading
 strategist at Goldman Sachs, he now
 runs Code Sleep Repeat, a prestigious K-12 coding camp headquartered in Palo Alto.

Hayagreev Dilip

Teacher, Curriculum Developer

Hayagreev is a junior at Cupertino High School, and works as a Teacher and Curriculum Developer at Launch Coders. He has taken AP Computer Science A in school, and has experience teaching science, mathematics and literature to elementary school students as a part of multiple non-profit initiatives. Hayagreev joined Launch Coders to introduce kids to computer science, and help them develop new skills.

Ruben Neyroud

Teacher, Curriculum Developer

Ruben is a Senior at Carlmont High School, and works as a Teacher and Curriculum Developer at Launch Coders. He has taken AP Computer Science A and Post AP Advanced Machine Architecture in school. Outside of school, he volunteers as a music mentor at a number local elementary schools. Ruben joined Launch Coders to pursue both his passion for teaching kids and his love for code.

Isabella Ortuondo

Teacher, Marketing Specialist

Isabella Ortuondo is a sophomore at Saint Francis High School, who works as a Teacher and Marketing Specialist at Launch Coders. She is a part of Girls Who Code at her school, and has experience teaching graphic design classes to middle school students, as well as volunteering with younger children. Isabella joined Launch Coders to cultivate her interest in teaching, and inspire younger students to use computer coding as a way to drive positive change in the world.

Thomas Gosvig

Teacher, Social Media Manager

Thomas is a senior at Carlmont High School, who works as a Teacher and Social Media Manager at Launch Coders. In school he has taken Advanced Computer Science Structure, Honor iOS App Development, and AP Computer Science. He also has experience tutoring 3rd grade students in STEM subjects. Thomas joined Launch Coders because he knows the importance of a good education, and wants everyone to have the same opportunities that he has had.

Martin Zhong

Teacher, Social Media Manager

Martin is a senior at Carlmont High School, who works as a Teacher and Social Media Manager at Launch Coders. In school, he has taken Computer Science Structure and Interpretation, and AP Computer Science A. He is currently taking Advanced Computer Science Machine Architecture and knows Python, Java, and C. He has experience volunteering with kids and also tutoring middle schoolers in English and math. Martin joined Launch Coders because of his love for both coding and teaching kids.

Guillermo Mendoza

Teacher

Guillermo is a junior at Carlmont High School, and works as a Teacher at Launch Coders. He is currently taking AP Computer Science A in school, and has spent 2 to 3 years running casual tutoring sessions for other students. Guillermo joined Launch Coders hoping to help kids develop a passion for coding, especially those with limited opportunities as he believes coding should be accessible to everyone who wants to learn.

Nikita Senthil

Teacher

Nikita is a sophomore at Saint Francis High School, and works as a Teacher at Launch Coders. She is currently taking AP Computer Science Principles in school and has experience teaching as a reading, writing, and math tutor for underserved elementary school students. Nikita joined Launch Coders with the goal of making computer science more accessible and understandable for everyone.
